Boyar Automotive, Taylor, TX

     Boyar Automotive is a full service auto repair shop that repairs and services all import and domestic cars and trucks and hybrids. The Boyar Family started Boyar Automotive here in Taylor in August 2008 and is located at 4408 North Main, just north of HEB on Hwy 95. 
     Jonathan Boyar is the owner and operator who is an ASE master technician with over 20 years experience working at dealerships and at body and repair shops in Austin. Jon and Tiffany sold their house in Austin and moved to Taylor in 2005. “We love Taylor so much that I decided to quit my job in Austin last year and start my own shop here in town,” says Jon.  But he says that he couldn't have started his own business with out the help of his wife, Tiffany, and his mom, Threasa Boyar.
     Tiffany Boyar is now a senior at Texas State University's McCoy School of Business and member of Magna Cum Laude Honor Society.  She earned her Associates Degree in Business from
Temple College at Taylor, before she started her Bachelor's Degree at Texas State. She is also getting her Teacher's Certification and hopes to teach in Taylor while attending grad school. When the family started Boyar Automotive, Tiffany was the one who found the location, formed the business and applied for all the permits and licenses. She is often in the office, talking to customers and working up estimates.
     Threasa Boyar, Jon's mom, is a retired high school math teacher, who tutors high school students near her home in Austin.  She comes to Taylor each week to help Jon and Tiffany with their weekly accounts.  She is the bookkeeper and business manager. Jon and Tiffany credit her with the financial planning and funding that the business needs to make it through this tough year. “Threasa's the brains behind the operation,” says Tiffany. 
     It takes the whole family to run the business, even though it's Jon who is up at the shop, day in – day out. “Now, if I can only get them to learn how to change a clutch out!” laughs Jon.
